What a week. Politics just won’t quit, and I open social media each morning with a little apprehension, hoping that another city hasn’t been impacted by hate and violence overnight. But here we are, back again at Friday, even if this week feels like it’s barely crawling over the finish line.

What we need now are good articles to read. So, to make your day a little lighter, here are a few of the amazing things I’ve been perusing online this week.

Enjoy!

Summer in the UK usually lasts about two weeks. They just happened, and they were blissful. While I was sweating it out, I consumed more than my fair share of elderflower cocktails. So very Brit. Here are a few amazing ones:

In defense of a fun budget. How else could we afford to take months off work to travel (starting in September!!!)?

Fun examples of perfect handwriting.

Fab parody of the TED talk. I love me a good TED talk, but this is spot on.

The war against decluttering is real. Side note: I really want to attend the annual conference of the National Association of Professional  Organizers someday.

Bookstore of my dreams.

I was on a book podcast this week! It was so much fun. My ‘to read’ list has never been longer.

Applicants to the famous NYC bookstore The Strand have to pass a book quiz. I did terribly 🙂

I’d only want a second home if it looked like this.

When you write a memoir, people immediately think they know you better than they do.

Photos of cities over time. Dubai is insane.

Thoughts on going home after being abroad. Couldn’t agree more.

Even though summer appears to be mostly over here (she says as she writes in a flannel shirt!), for those of you still in heat waves:

What’s your signature dish, the one that you would turn into if people became food? This is me in food form.

Foreign words for extremely precise emotions you definitely have but never had the perfect word for. I’ve had a lot of awumbuk this summer.

Over in our little corner of the internet, we’ve been here in London now for weeks, and have been writing about Europe a ton. Maybe we’re feeling a little torschlusspanik (see the article above), but apparently we can’t get enough. Check out our favorite London cocktails, epic European road trips, how to spend 48 hours in Madrid, and how we are spending the Italian portion of our upcoming road trip.

Oh, one last thing! I’m not going to post another update of the London Summer Bucket List, but this month has been amazing. We went to six events (out of a total 13, leaving four remaining in August) and six restaurants (leaving six remaining). No wonder our budget is in ruins. I’ll provide a big summary at the end of August.

Until next time, happy Jason Bourne movie opening day to you. Have a lovely weekend.
