SAMSUNG NX300 CAMERA
A wonderful camera with the versatility of a DSLR, with a more compact body. Comes with built-in settings newbie photograpers, but all the bells and whistles a pro would want. Also has WiFi, so we email photos if we need them on the fly.
CANON POWERSHOT S120
A perfectly good point-and-shoot digital camera that we use almost entirely for video. The quality of the videos are excellent, and it does all of the basic things we need a camera to do for our YouTube videos.
GORILLAPOD ORIGINAL TRIPOD
We found that a shaky camera is super frustrating when doing our video editing, so we invested in this tiny tripod, which fits our Canon perfectly. No more need for one of us to awkwardly hold the camera while recording!
MACBOOK AIR 13”
We adore this. We do all of our work on it for the blog. We’re glad we chose the smaller display, since it just makes traveling easier. We’ve had it 2+ years and it works flawlessly. Sleek, lightweight and powerful. An ideal combo.
WD PASSPORT 500GB
We made a mistake of not backing up our photos for a long time, until the inevitable happened and we lost some. Lesson learned. So now we use this portable hard drive. It’s tiny and lightweight, so no issues with bringing it on the road with us.
SANDISK 16GB EXTREME PRO
This is a necessity for our Canon due to the amount of video we do. We needed a larger capacity memory card and this one has worked perfectly for us. We have yet to reach its capacity for any video, which is roughly an hour.
We hate to say it, but after our passports, our iPhones are our must-have item when we go, well, anywhere. Google Maps has been our savior numerous times, as has the camera. Our UK-based 3 SIM card provides unlimited data for £20/month.
BRIGGS AND RILEY CARRY-ON
Our views of quality luggage changed when we purchased this. At first, we viewed it as a major investment, but it is SO durable. It’s seen cobbled streets in Italy, dirt roads in Cambodia and snow storms in Maine. It still looks (and acts!) new.
FURTHER BOUND DESIGN
Hannah and Lee are amazing. They turned our amateur site into something that we absolutely love. They were amazing to work with, professional and incredibly talented. For anyone looking to take their site to the next level, look no further.
LIGHTROOM PHOTO EDITING
This is the main editing software we use for all our photos. It is easy to use, intuitive and has a load of fun features. It is perfect for our basic needs, and when we find Photoshop to be a little too complicated for our non-designer minds. We love it!
Travel Bloggers Influencer Network #TBIN
We are a member of the Travel Bloggers Influencer Network – #TBIN – a select group of 60+ travel writers, bloggers and photographers. TBIN members have an impressive 6.5+ million social media followers.
BUFFER SOCIAL SCHEDULING
This is a great website for scheduling tweets. We customized a schedule and can get a whole day of tweets done first thing in the morning, rather than spending a few minutes, ten times a day, sending tweets. Super efficient.
TRAVEL BLOG SUCCESS
This is an incredible community of travel bloggers that is also home to several great courses and a fantastic private Facebook page. It’s where all the cool kids hang out. If you want to really get to know your fellow bloggers, start here.
BLUEHOST WEB HOSTING
This is one of the best hosting sites out there, especially if you are just making the switch to self-hosting. We have had very few loading issues and when we have run into some problems, their customer service is always stellar.
An online writing and blogging resource, this is a great all-arounder for new bloggers or long-time bloggers looking for some inspiration or learn a new skill. They’re constantly adding to the courses available. Highly recommended.
MOO BUSINESS CARDS
These are great to hand out at blogging conventions, meet-ups or simply out on the road. The print and paper quality is really awesome, and we love their recycled card, too. Plus, you know, they make us look all professional.
Most of our European travel starts with this, searching “London” to “Everywhere”, our favorite feature of the site. We can find what destination has the best deal, rather than searching each potential destination separately.
We use Expedia for many of our international flights, perfectly for a little travel wanderlust. The interface is clean and user friendly, and we often find some great deals through this site. Always worth a look!
Since relocating to the UK, this has been our go-to site for hotel searching. It highlights many apartments, inns and B&Bs that are otherwise overlooked on other sites. Their ratings and customer reviews are usually spot-on.
For an all-purpose hotel search, check out hotelscombined.com. It works like Kayak, searching multiple sites and displaying the best rates. It gets search results from big sites like booking.com, hotels.com, and expedia. A one stop shop for some great deals!
This has been one of favorite sites for renting cars in Europe. Drew used to manage a restaurant next door to their headquarters, so not only is it a great site, but we can vouch that the employees are nice too (and based in Portland, Maine!).
Housesitting has been a revelation for our travel. We have used this site over a dozen times in the past year, up to 3 weeks at a time. If you have a pet, or like pets and want to stay in a home for free rather than hotel, then this is for you.
We currently use: American Express Starwood, American Airlines Citi World Elite Mastercard, and British Airways Chase Visa Signature. By putting all of our purchases on these credit cards, we maximize the points in our points accounts.
