Corners of the Internet

Corners of the Internet #7

It’s that time again. When I stop talking about travel and get real about the interwebs. Because, let’s face it – more of my daily life is spent consuming online information than I care to admit.

In TV Land:

  • Binged watched the new season of House of Cards. Continue to like it and relish in its evilness.
  • Surprisingly enjoying The People vs. OJ Simpson. Side note: can you believe they are replaying it here on the BBC in the UK? I know! I think we’re an episode or two behind, but this never happens.
  • For UK readers, I’m also loving this season of Call the Midwife and the new show The Night Manager. I offset my inevitable sobbing watching babies with maniacal Hugh Laurie. It’s a magic combination.
  • Forced myself to sit through two episodes of Fuller House. I. Just. Can’t.
  • Speaking of old favorites, as a kid I was as obsessed with Full House as I was with Ghostwriter – which is now streaming on YouTube. Love.

March is the month where I finally committed to learn how to Pinterest. For reals. The blogging benefits are huge but I have been so resistant to figuring out how to systematically manage yet another social media platform. My favorite post of all about how to crack it is Leah’s.

Also March-related: we’re heading to the Lake District (here in the UK) next week for the long Easter weekend. I’m researching good walks we can take.

Splurge alert: up in the Lake District, we’ll be blowing our monthly restaurant budget at L’Enclume, where we will have Easter lunch like kings!

Outside Magazine did a series on life hacks this week – sleep, eat, and work better. But don’t forget Sarah’s wise words that you can’t lifehack your way to happiness or fulfillment or acceptance. Amen.

I have lots of strong feelings about tourist attractions that are totally not worth it. And here’s why.

The travel inspiration that I’ve bookmarked this week for leisurely reading:

This week we’ve been dealing with the dreaded ‘your start-up disc is almost full’ warning on our computer. Boo.

In between annoying computer problems, we’ve also started writing about our recent trip to Switzerland, what it costs to visit various European cities for a weekend, and our lovely Sri Lankan resort.

And we launched our first ebook – The Gluten-Free Guide to London. Over 100 restaurants, markets and shops to make being gluten free in London a whole lot easier!

Cheers to the beginning of spring and flowers and bunnies and lots and lots of Cadbury eggs. Or jelly beans if you prefer.

I loved Ghostwriter! Thanks for the heads up!

Also, I discovered this week that Netflix India has all the seasons of Full House, so I have been watching those. It’s amazing and so much better than the new one, mostly because Uncle Jesse is in all the episodes 🙂

    Happy long weekend!

Same here! They just put up all the Full House episodes on UK Netflix – I have been checking them out. When I was 10 I thought that show was literally the most clever thing ever invented. My, how times change!

The Night Manager debuts stateside on the 19th, and I not only have a reminder on my calendar, I have the DVR scheduled, as well as my tv set to autotune to the show when it starts. I love Tom Hiddleston.

We just finished watching it – so good. And Tom H is a babe, enough said 🙂
